Living vicariously

Doesn't this picture holds the makings for a lovely day off.
I am living vicariously on this one.
Happy sunny Thursday to you. Thursdays are my girlie knitting night, and while there is not usually any beer involved there is coffee, sweets, fibre and friends. Good times and a great kickoff to my weekend.

A positive spin on Mondays

I must admit that I sometimes quite look forward to Monday mornings....after the willy-nilly that seems to be our weekends. I enjoy the quiet....the routine....the return of the regular.
Hope your Monday treats you well.

The whirlwind

After the whirlwind that was this week, this afternoon was spent wandering through the wilds of the Gatineau Hills. Hazel quickly filled both my pockets and hers with pinecones, feathers, flowers and rocks. We saw red and white trillium starting their spring flowering, as well as anemones and violets. We waded into some very cold water. Everything seems to be in a hurry this year...my garden is about a month ahead of schedule...it is a whirlwind in the natural world too.
I personally am hoping for (but not expecting) a slow weekend.

What I have been up to - a partial list

Hi all.
I feel as though I have been away for awhile...the weather has been kind and my thoughts have turned to the outdoors. Or, more appropriately, my girls' thoughts have. Which means not so much time on the computer. Fine by me really.
In my spare moments, between finding flowers, building fairy houses and playing mermaid I have managed to create a couple of samples for upcoming classes I am running at Wabi-Sabi. Check out the website www.wabi-sabi.ca if you are interested. My projects are listed under "Felting".
Well, enough of the real world....Oceana awaits.

I love doors

I do. I should clarify. I love old, wood doors. Or new wood doors made to look old.
I like to think about the people those doors have welcomed; the couples coming across the threshold into their new home. The midwives hurrying in to help bring new lives into the world, all the points in between. People used to put their heart and soul into building their doors. It is obvious still when you see one.
Metal or fiberglass just don't cut it for me.

Sprouting color

It happens the same way every year, yet each time I am surprised by it.
Color seems to sprout overnight. That is what is happening all around me at this very moment. (Unless you are living in my neighbors garden that is being thoroughly enjoyed by the local bunnies).
Today there are daffodils where yesterday there were none. I love that.

A change in plans

What would happen if we suddenly decided that 5 days of work with two days of weekend wasn't good enough? What would happen to the world if we made a shift to balance things out a bit more....even the playing field so to speak. Leaving more time for just that -
play.
I know it would suit me just fine. What about you?

Going way back to April 5, 1997

How is it that 13 years has come and gone, when I can still remember with great detail your entrance into my world...like it was yesterday. It was pretty quick all things considered, and when all was said and done there you were, with your head of red and curly hair. At the time, all I could do was stare at you with all the wonder and joy a parent feels. I still find myself doing that today.
Happy Birthday my girl. You are fantastical.
love,
mumsy
